Introduction from the new Parish Clerk
Dear Residents,
I write to introduce myself as your new Parish Clerk. Many of you I’m sure will have known my predecessor, Dr Chris Smith who was Clerk for 15 years and who retired from the role at the end of February. Being of a certain age it is highly unlikely I will be in the role as long as Chris but while I am here I aim to serve the Parish and the residents to the best of my abilities.
Right now my top priority is to recruit four new Councillors to fill four vacancies which have arisen over the past few months. So if anyone out there would like to join the Council and help improve their community then please get in touch using this email address. (See below)
After that then this is a great time of year to do what we can to continue sorting out drainage problems – you may know that Herefordshire Council gives Parishes grant monies to do this work on their behalf. Now that we are in the new financial year it’s time to secure the grants and get on with improvement projects.
Apart from becoming a Councillor there are other ways to make your voice heard and help determine Council priorities. In a few days – Wednesday 7 May – the Annual Parish Meeting will be held. This is not a Council meeting, instead it is an opportunity for all residents to come along and voice their opinions on any topic of local interest that they wish. (See below again). Usually these meetings are short – they last typically half an hour or so. The meeting on 7 May will start at 6pm in the Siward James Centre. Remember all the money the Council spends comes directly from you, the residents, so it would seem sensible to come along and have a say on how it gets spent.
If you are able to come along on Wednesday I look forward to meeting you, meanwhile…..
Best Regards,
Allan Drew
